WOYWW 202

WOYWW 202

I'm playing around with pop up cards inspired by this link I saw on Pinterest.
I did this swarm of butterflies using acetate. Then I thought about a pop up garden with a picket fence and maybe a bike parked out front. This is as far as I've gotten so be sure to stop back in a few days or... check out my Pinterest boards for the completed card.

A short and quick post...I've got some errands to do this morning but I'll be back to snoop at some desks soon. Come join the fun...at the Stamping Ground I know you'll find it very interesting and you might even be surprised at how much we all have in common.

I'll be seeing you:)

Foiled again...

Does any one remember that saying?...foiled again. I'm thinking it was from a carton character....maybe when the hero was unable to rescue the maiden in distress. At any rate I love how these strips of foil paper look when embossed...great texture.

I added some white embossed velum butterflies I fussy cut for more texture and interest.

I love this foil, yet when I requested more at Micheal's I was told they no longer carried the gold/silver assortment, only the colored assortment. How disappointing.

I moved the word "on" and added some jewels to this card to finish it off. In the previous post I had the words mounted on acetate but I hadn't inked the edges, so after inking them, they were easily removed to be re-placed this way. What do you think now Krisha ?

I'm saving the red and green foil for Christmas creations in the mean time I will continue to play with every little scrap and strip of this fun paper. I think my little charms die cuts will work just fine.

I've noticed two new members joined so I'd like to welcome them and ask everyone what card candy you would like to win? I'm going to offer die cuts and flowers and other hand made embellishments to a random member when I reach 100 followers-(I currently have 93 followers). Considering the cuts I've used in the past...what would you want to win? I welcome you to browse on Pinterest boards for ideas. So please do browse and then be sure to leave a comment and contact information.

91 is 16 up-side down

I love everything that's old, old friends,  old times, old music, old manners, old books, old wine.  I hope Thelma at 91 will forgive me for suggesting that she's old. But seriously don't you just love old movies, and history and everything  suggesting days gone by. Old is a good thing.

I love the simplicity of this card...thoroughly modern art deco and jazzy with all that razzle dazzle silver and gold.

Up next is a glamorous 3 tiered cake to celebrate.  I used bird' cards cutting file. I can't even begin to imagine all the profound changes that Thelma has experienced. Automobiles and televisions for starters. She is a legend I do say.

Tomorrow I will begin creating birthday cards for my daughter Corina- the yoga teacher and for my DIL Sandy - the care giving nurse in charge of case management.

That's all for now, thanks for your visit.

Completing Details for the Fashion Show Luncheon

Using the colors we chose for the event.... this lovely lavender card
is for the spunky proprietor/hostess/cook... Cookie Shearer.
I can't image preparing food for 64, with only a staff of 3.
The presentation was beautiful and served professionally, in her
charming Victorian Mansion. Well done!

The inside of this card I used the beautifully embossed silver card stock that was on my desk last Wednesday. I used SB circle dies to cut the circles...representing a place setting with a silver charger. The flat wear stickers are attached to card stock than fussy cut and placed on a lavender scrap-napkin. I used photo corners to insert card stock for the committee of 5 to write personal messages.  This was a fun project for me to create a very personal card to express our gratitude.

The committee of 5 will meet this evening and celebrate our successful fund raising luncheon. One of the things we need to complete this event is to send thank you cards to all the vendors and business's that contributed goods and services. We would not have met our goal with out their help.

Well now I must gather some chilled wine and libations to share and celebrate. Thanks for your visit. Leave a comment and I will return the visit.

Be well ~ Carole

WOYWW #208

I've been playing with this wonderful gold card stock...gold through and through. It embosses beautifully. I used a versa mark pen to ink the indented design on the embossing folder then sprinkled it with gold embossing powder. The gold on gold is subtle, yet like damask it's elegant.
I up cycled a cracker box by spraying the a 5'X6" piece with adhesive then placed it on aluminum foil. This embosses great too! The keys are SB dies and the anchor and boat wheel are from MFT.

My camera battery needs charging so I can't post a close up. That's all I got.

I missed last week on WOYWW cause we're busy finishing details for the Woman's Club of Royersford Fashion Show and Luncheon, that will be held this Sunday.  We sold 61 tickets...wow! I invite your return visit next week, when I will post the results of our fund raising attempt.

A graduation card for a friend receiving his PHD from Clark University. The inside view shows a pocket to add a note or cash.

I'm going snooping, you never know what you'll discover.

3 KISSES

Week #2 for CASology - cue "Happy"  So I thought about what makes me happy and how to represent happy. I did some research for quotes but then I thought about chocolate, now that make me happy. Compliments and Chocolate will make most women happy.

I started thinking about chocolate kisses and how to make a one layer only card and still have silver kisses popping up. I drew and  cut out several kisses from a firm card stock - (probably backing from a purchased item) then glued them together, then on another card board to create an embossing plate. I laid that on my cuttlebug-A plate and ran it through- testing the sandwich combinations that would work. Finally I got good results using the A plate + B plate + base card +cardboard with the raised kisses + rubber mat + B plate.

Excitement...hoots and hollers such fun creating. Next step make it silver. I got out my Essential Glue Pad refill bottle and using a tiny paint brush I covered the raised "kiss" shapes with the glue. I pulled out my embossing powders and discovered I didn't have any silver powder. What to do...glitter, MS white gold fine glitter was all I had. It worked...so cool.

Using the computer I typed "HAPPY", twice then "CHOCOLATE" in a .25" height text box. After cutting that out, I cut tiny slits above the "kisses" and add the little strips.

I thought about adding a stamped "Happy" but since I don't have a stamp big enough to make an impact I'll leave it plain.

I'm going to enter it in "Less is More" Week 76 One Layer Challenge. 3 of anything, that is 3 colors, 3 stamps,3 images...whatever as long as it's a simple design, and only one layer.

This one qualifies. I hope those little strips aren't a problem. I'm sure when I buy some silver embossing powder I will try this again, but for now I'm "HAPPY " with the results. What do you think? Should I get a big happy stamp?

Thanks for visiting;) Be well ~ Carole
P.S. You might have noticed I changed my picture. The former one was from my son's wedding. That was 10 years ago, I haven't aged 10 years overnight. Hehe.

PinkThinking

Link Up for Pink has a new challenge:
#2 sponsored by A Day for Daises.

ADFD offers the cutest free digital image just for liking them on FB. The image is a little winged fairy sitting on a mushroom with a snail perched on her toe. You have to go and see it for yourself.

Link Up for Pink is a wonderful cause that we can all relate to. Is there any one that doesn't know of a friend or relative having faced or is  facing the challenges of breast cancer? I sincerely doubt it.

One of the most difficult conversations is how do we support and comfort our friends and family when they are dealing with this crisis. What can we say?  When we are dumb struck! Sending cards is a way to show we care and sends a simple message. Link Up for Pink has many sponsors that offer free digital stamps to help you convey your message and support. Check it out. Then create some thoughtful cards to share with your loved ones.

And finally after creating your thoughtful cards share them by linking up... for a chance to win some great prizes. Win win!

I will continue to enter new entries until I run out of pink paper...but I can always buy more pink paper. Right? I look forward to using all of the freebies the sponsors offer to create meaningful statements of support. Check back often to see my entries.

I've been bombarded with allergic reactions to all the green pollen decorating our cars and roadways. It doesn't stop me...but it sure does slow me down. The coughing and itching makes me feel like I can't appear in public, and it's exhausting.

Enough about that. Yet it got me inspired to create this card. Under the Weather? I will be ready to share it with a friend that's not feeling well. I love the little rain drops falling off the side of the umbrella enhanced with Glossy Accents.

I hope this post finds you well and in the pink so  you will be inspired to create and share your passion for a good cause. Link Up for Pink.

Be well Carole

More Wedding Cards

Hello My Friend, thanks for stopping by.
I took a few  samples of wedding cards to our Woman's club luncheon,  as requested by a member who's grandson is getting married next month.

This card features calla lilies in a frame with a side border of hearts and edges glittered with the wonderful new silver glitter tape. The envelope is lined with a satin looking paper.

I posted a card very similar to this second one a few weeks ago. Yes this one has the double hearts and the double texture but I added double rings tied together with a bow. It has "Congratulations!" as the sentiment instead of Mr. & Mrs. and a spray of three flowers instead of one.  I don't know about you but I have a hard time making the exact same card,I want to change at least one thing to make it unique. This card is 5"X7"and has a hand made envelope lined with the satin paper.

Carolyn said I was making it difficult to choose because she liked them all. She mentioned that she wanted a really special card for her grandson because they were giving the couple $$$. Who wouldn't want that? So I said that I would create a pocket of sorts inside to insert the money in. A real gift card.

This photo shows the inside with the pocket scalloped with a lacy border punch. I used my score board to create a 1/4" fold line down the length and across the bottom. This way it's not attached flat to the card. I printed a personal greeting to her grandson and his bride on velum paper. I placed two doves facing each other to cover the glue dots used to attach the greeting to the base. Then I thought I could have used the same border punch for the top of the greeting to cover the adhesive. Next time.

That's what I love about making a card unique, subtle changes. Take the same theme and switch it around. Like this sample. I used a different embossing folder added the double hearts, then attached the doves with dimensional dots and separated the floral spray. This card is 4.25" X 5.50" Much easier to find A2 envelopes.

Again the same theme, white on white with embossing, flowers and now a swirl. I think I could do several more variations. I could add some color, maybe chalk pastels or pale ribbons. Ivory or silver embellishments. I'm thinking that I'll scan some lace and print it for the envelope liners. Then maybe I'll heat emboss a flourish on the envelope.

The ideas just keep coming. Does this inspire you?

In conclusion 5 other members ordered personal wedding cards with pockets inserts. I'm not surprised. The quality of the paper, the time and detail make these gift cards a unique gift.

Card Patterns Challenge Sketch152

Hello my friends, thanks for stopping by. Today after finally resolving computer issues I'm ready to enter a new challenge. First one this year. Card Patterns  challenge 152 is sponsored by: Sparkle Creations
They're offering the winner two of the cutest rubber stamps ever.  But it's fun to play along even if I don't win.

This is a great sketch and so I made 3 versions. This first one is for my sister, her birthdays on Saturday...she's a follower but I don't think she visits so I'm posting it. It's embossed, with spellbinders oval and scalloped oval covered with punched and pearled flowers and greens, finished with a circle and knot.

The second version is in pink and made for my younger cousin Justine who's birthday is Friday the 17th. And the final version is a monochromatic version all in white. I love the monochromatic version because the quality of the paper is reflected by the embossing...pure luxury.

I think I did it well....what do you think?
Wishing you well  Carole
