Crochet shade

I've been crocheting doilies all winter The other day I used some fabric stiffener on a large white doily and shaped it over a big balloon. After it dried I removed it and added some tulle saturated with the same fabric stiffener over the same balloon, then put the dried stiffened 

doily over top and let that dry over night. After I trimmed it I looked around for some tall vessel to place this crocheted shade on.

 

I couldn't find anything tall enough and I really wanted to blog this today so I placed 2 vases on top of each other, added a push-on battery operated led light in the top vase and placed the shade over that.  I'm a bit disappointed that the blue glow does not show up on the picture, but I'm delighted with the effect. The fourth shot is with some light behind it but you still can't see the glow of the led light. Too bad.

 I don't want to make this permanent buy gluing the two vases together, so I will continue to look for a tall vessel to top with this shade.
