CFC71: Fall Fun

Pumpkins are fall fun. You can carve them for Jack O Lanterns, or scoop them out and add flowers, or use little pumpkins for serving bowls, and hey the are just fun to look at, all curves and lines. So I stamped a few, cut them out, inked for interest and popped up for dimension. I had them glued down but they looked like they were just floating there...so I used some markers to give them ground. Pretty simple and full of possibilities.

Catch a bug?

I knew I wanted to do this little buggy in yellow so I did one in purple too! Thanks to Lynn Pratt. She offers a free tutorial and template for this card. If you're looking for some really clever 3 D projects Lynn has dozens of tutorials for sale. Cars, trucks, tackle boxes, brief cases, pianos and so much more. Take a look you'll be delighted with the possibilities.

I had some fun jazzing up these buggies with silver bumpers and headlights. I added an acetate windshield, a lady bug  and side view mirrors and a license plate. I put tires on the top and bottom of the card, so that it will stand up. For some added dimension I did some dry embossing on the hood and headlights then added dimensional dots. The paper has a  shimmer to it making it sparkle. I think this will cheer up anyone feeling under the weather.

I 'm preparing for a show and tell demonstration at our monthly Woman's club luncheon. Along with months of cards created for challenges and my blog, I've made several Easter cards to offer for sale. I will decorate all the tables with the paper roses I've been making for weeks. I can only make 2 a day because texturizing them is so hard on my hands. Copy paper works best but I had card stock in red, yellow and pink so I used what I had. I just love these flowers, to turn flat paper into this rose amazes me.

The distressed music paper roses show up poorly in this picture but they are really unique in person.

   

 I will also showcase the lanterns I made for Spring and Halloween   This show and tell will help me be prepared to present at craft shows.

I plan on giving a rose to each of our members that attend. The roses can be used to decorate a gift instead of a bow to make it extra special.

Now to complete this post here's another card inspired by one I saw on Pinterest. So fun and feminine. The paper cracked on the fold so I will try again with different paper.

Summer Lantern

 Remember the Anything 3D challenge.. Tiki Bar? I won 2nd Place from SVGATTIC.   You'll notice the Top #3 blinkie on this blog. Yea!!! So besides bragging rights I received a $10.00 give certificate to shop. I had my mind made up. I wanted the "Summer Lanterns" file collection and the "Birds and Bees".


 I couldn't wait to get started. Choosing 12X12"colored paper that is sturdy enough was a problem (non on hand), so I just used a white card stock for the lantern base. This lantern file is so much fun and easy to assemble. It measures 9" high and 5" wide.  Brown card stock frames the windows and door frame. There are two planters with tulips under the side windows (not clearly visible). I cut 1/4" strips of green card stock and fringed it to mimic grass and glued that around the bottom then created a little step up to the door. I used acetate for the inside of the windows. The front door is cut from a glossy red card stock and "flower soft" was used to enhance the topiary's. It lights up nicely with little battery operated candle.


As I was making this I kept thinking of different elements I could use for Halloween...ghosts, bats and witches for a start... and Christmas, imagine a glittery roof top and icicles hanging above the windows, and a snow covered evergreen tree, snowmen flanking the front door hung with a wreath. How about on the roof.. a Santa in a sleigh full of gifts, pulled by some reindeer . Be sure to visit again and see if I can make it happen.

Anything 3D challenge

Tiki Bar

 I thing I got my zing back. Thanks to Jessica at: http://jessicascropcorner.blogspot.com  
She visited my blog and invited me play along with this challenge. I used her files from: svgattic.com 
the Just Beachy and Luau collections. There are so many fun elements to choose from I had to stop myself from getting carried away.


 I started by cutting 2 tiki bars at 8" height. I created the depth by cutting a  1 1/2 " strip then scoring them at 1/2" and 1". I folded the score lines and glued them to the front and back bar. I made a floor to support the bar by cutting a  5 1/2" square. I scored that at 2"-2 1/2"-3"-3 1/2" then folded it and inserted into the bottom of the bar. I found some yellow straw-like ribbon in my stash so I glued that to the top and front of the bar. I used distressed brown ink to mute the yellow. I cut the palm tree at 8" the surf boards at 5" and the lanterns at 1 1/2". I put flip flops a star fish and some sand on the floor.
