Freshly Made Sketch #50 & a Wedding Card

Still time to play...oh goodie! I have time. A sketch by Leslie. Come join us for this fun sketch challenge, but you better be quick about it.  Freshly Made Sketches and their design team offer some amazing examples for your inspiration. Check them out, then come and play along.

I was working on some special cards for a friend so when I finished the wedding card requested,  I decided to play.

I didn't have too much time to spend so I picked some papers, trimmed to match the sketch and inked the edges. I knew I wanted to use something different for the embellishments, so I pulled out the water can die cut I've had for years. There are three cuts glued together because I wrote the sentiment on the can and kept messing up. I finally settled for this. Tiny flowers with pearl centers attached to pine branch punches to resemble a garden patch. I used Glossary Accents to make drops but I'm afraid they don't show up.

I don't know about you but I'm never satisfied with how my hand writing looks, but sometimes it's necessary to achieve an effect.

This is the heart easel wedding card requested for Justin and Mandi wedding. It features AC glittery swirl card stock, weaved satin ribbon, silver stickers and a glittered banner with their names. I've made a few of these heart easel cards and people are wowed. It's not all that difficult, just time consuming. Instead of an envelope I make a box,  using heavy weight silver card stock and acetate for the lid. The acetate is tricky to score and fold but it makes a nice presentation.

This shows the inside with the silver stickers, and 3 silver squares with  rhinestone centers for the stop - so the card can stand.

The next pictures shows the back. For added support I used the same silver card stock as the box, then added the border trimmed pocket.

I typed the verse in word, then using auto shapes - I shaped the heart large enough to insert the text box verse. A piece of ribbon with a flower attached to the verse for easy removal. Not shown, but on the back of that is another pocket for a gift card or cash.

The last picture shows the card in the box. Sorry about the glare from the acetate. The finished box measures 7.5" X 6.5". I'm rather pleased with it. I hope Kathryn is as well.

That's all for now. Be well and enjoy your day. ~ Carole
