I drew and scored the paint pallet adding dabs of fabric paint then left it to dry. I drew the paint brushes, scored and inked the outline then colored in. The quote is "All art requires courage." ~ Anne Tucker
This is pretty elementary and not quite how I pictured it, but it does represent my favorite class in school. How would you improve it?
I think if I added cuts of the elements attached with dimensional s it would add depth and different opportunities for placement.
I got side tracked...you don't know this but I was over visiting Darnell. Congratulations for the Honorable mention Darnell. She writes one of my favorite blogs and posts such creative and amazing cards. Darnell has twin grandsons about the same age as my grandchildren, and she is lucky enough to have the cutest playhouse I could ever image. So... now- back to present.
This sunshine card is so darn cute I sent it to the grandkids, but it's not my design. I spotted this on Pinterest made by: Cathy After 2 rainy days and no longer babysitting - because they are in school all day - this smiling sunshine brightened my day.
Here's the thing...I can be inspired by so many cards and I enjoy recreating them, working with the supplies that I have...but it's so darn hard for me to come up with something on my own. Do you experience that? Sketches are helpful for making a unique card, but it's still - someone else that created the design.
Darnell invites us to join her for WOYWW. I just might. I took some pictures, perhaps I'll post it tomorrow.

Be well my friends...and craft on!
What fabulous cards!!! I LOVE the use of the kraft cardstock--and your paint palette is amazing!!! I'd love for you to join me at Technique Tuesday--I can't wait to see what you'd create!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm all aquiver!! But first, both of your cards are adorable! I know what you mean about dimensionals, but I honestly like the layout just as you've done it on the art card.
ReplyDeleteWhich brings me to your paragraph about how hard it is for you to come up with something on your own. Carole, you did an awesome original job of being creative with your art card here! Not only that, but you DREW the pallet (LOVE the paint dabs!!) and the paintbrushes!! I mean, shut up! Do you know how few people can DRAW! The very idea of coming up with what you have created would give them hives!!
So don't be so hard on yourself!! You have more talent than you realize! Please realize it!
Anyway, there is nothing wrong with getting your inspiration from others. I think most of us do that most of the time. That's why we love this Blogland so much and also why Splitcoast Stampers is so popular. It's considered a compliment to CASE a card as long as you give proper credit.
Plus, don't you find that you may start out "recreating," but then your own creativity takes over? I have an entire binder of inspiration cards for ideas that I've been using for ten years. It's only been since I've started participating in these fun challenges that I've been doing more "original" work. But often I still start out with someone else's sketch and/or someone else's colors and the DT cards for inspiration ... then I start looking at my stamps and thinking ...
About WOYWW: I think it's a Wednesday-only linkie. (Otherwise there would be a thousand links!) So if it's too late this week, make a note for next Tuesday to take your picture, or get ready to post the ones you just took, whichever. Everyone is really nice!
Sorry, this is so long, but what did you expect from me? LOL!!
Carole, thank you so, so much for the kind comments and the mention of me in your post today! I will get your money to you by next Tuesday. No seriously, I got a minor whiplash over the double-take I did!! I really appreciate it!
Lastly, I just adore how you sent your gkids an envelope full of sunshine! I will be CASEing that idea from YOU!!
I have to stop now because I ran out of exclamation points.
xo
I love your darling cards!! Your paint blobs are SOOOO creative! I thought they were brads until I enlarged it and looked more closely and then read your full description. Very cool! And I agree about liking sketches...whenever I feel "rusty" or need something to "kick start" my creativity, I like to start with a sketch! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for playing along with us this week at CAS-ual Fridays!
