3 KISSES

Week #2 for CASology - cue "Happy"  So I thought about what makes me happy and how to represent happy. I did some research for quotes but then I thought about chocolate, now that make me happy. Compliments and Chocolate will make most women happy.

I started thinking about chocolate kisses and how to make a one layer only card and still have silver kisses popping up. I drew and  cut out several kisses from a firm card stock - (probably backing from a purchased item) then glued them together, then on another card board to create an embossing plate. I laid that on my cuttlebug-A plate and ran it through- testing the sandwich combinations that would work. Finally I got good results using the A plate + B plate + base card +cardboard with the raised kisses + rubber mat + B plate.

Excitement...hoots and hollers such fun creating. Next step make it silver. I got out my Essential Glue Pad refill bottle and using a tiny paint brush I covered the raised "kiss" shapes with the glue. I pulled out my embossing powders and discovered I didn't have any silver powder. What to do...glitter, MS white gold fine glitter was all I had. It worked...so cool.

Using the computer I typed "HAPPY", twice then "CHOCOLATE" in a .25" height text box. After cutting that out, I cut tiny slits above the "kisses" and add the little strips.

I thought about adding a stamped "Happy" but since I don't have a stamp big enough to make an impact I'll leave it plain.

I'm going to enter it in "Less is More" Week 76 One Layer Challenge. 3 of anything, that is 3 colors, 3 stamps,3 images...whatever as long as it's a simple design, and only one layer.

This one qualifies. I hope those little strips aren't a problem. I'm sure when I buy some silver embossing powder I will try this again, but for now I'm "HAPPY " with the results. What do you think? Should I get a big happy stamp?

P.S. You might have noticed I changed my picture. The former one was from my son's wedding. That was 10 years ago, I haven't aged 10 years overnight. Hehe.

"Less is More" Week 75 Color GOLD

"Less is More" I have some time to enter another challenge-more fun. "Less is More"
Week 75 Color GOLD. Wow Embossing Powders is the sponsor. I have less then 3 hours to make and post a gold card.

That's what's great about LIM. It can be so quick and simple. I cut me card stock to make the base and scored it. Pulled out a new butterfly stamp and sentiment. It's from Gina K's Stamp TV - sent as a gift along with an order I placed. Love it...and this is the first time I'm using it.

It worked really well with Versa Mark and the gold embossing powder. I added the tiny gold foil strip...but it looks like I need to add more adhesive. I used the zig glue pen making dots... apparently I didn't use enough, afraid it would smear and leave shiny glue marks. It's an easy fix and  the card came together so nice.

Well I better get it published and added to the list of 152 entries. Do I have a chance? Maybe but it sure was fun trying.

I thank my sister every time I post pictures. She bought me the camera that allows me to share my creative energy.

Less is More Week 35

The "Colour Of Your Eyes"  challenge from Less is More.
I discovered this challenge
from one of the blogs I follow and thought it
would be fun to play along.
The idea is to keep it clean and simple,  few or no embellishments and a lot of white space (an area with no image or embellishments) using your own eye color as the predominate theme. It was not as easy as I thought. Sure you can fold card stock in half and just add an image and a sentiment, but does it make a statement? Adding embellishments and different elements, buttons and bows is what we do as card makers. Always looking for new products bells and whistles. So this challenge had me thinking differently.
My eyes are chocolate brown and so is the base color. This is as simple as I could come up with. The cute little teddy bear was my inspiration. It just makes me think of hugs. I used black dimensional fabric paint for his eyes and red for his bow. It's so hard to stop myself from using more embellishments. The designers do a fabulous job with simplicity. It's worth visiting the site. I will keep "Less is More" in mind as I challenge myself to simplicity in card making. That would save a lot of time with Christmas Cards.
