A cute little bird house

Peaceful_birdhouse_2
I subscribe to: Nicole from Papertreyink.com and I'm always delighted with her creations. Yesterday while looking through her blog, my eye was drawn to: free downloads where I found this charming little bird house template. I printed it out to play with later. Nicole is so generous with her projects, thanks for sharing Nicole.

I was working on a Mojo Monday sketch but it just wasn't coming together, so rather then continue being frustrated I put that aside and cut out the template. A bit of whimsy sparks my imagination. I am already working on another one perhaps more masculine using wood papers and tiles. Then I'll have to make some for on the Christmas tree decked out with holly and wreaths I fancy. Maybe I'll string mini lights around them...you know the battery operated necklaces, I wonder if that will work.

I've been in awe of some of the cards made by masking so I thought I'd give it a try. I found this stamp featuring falling leaves at A C Moore's in the clearance bin for $2.00 and thought it would be a nice silhouette image for the masking technique. "Best Wishes" gold sticker compliments the three gold diamond shapes where in little envelopes in the clearance bin too but for $1.00, More about that tomorrow.

My second attempt at masking I used some fossil leaves, so details and fragile adding the "Thanks" gold sticker and 3 gold diamond shapes. Actually this was pretty simple with fun results. I will need more practice to be able to recreate this beautiful card "Delicate Branches" by Loll, or to do the amazing work Heather Telford does.
There's always room to improve and learn. Thanks for visiting and if you leave a comment I will return the favor.

Darnell has captured a lovely photo of a hummingbird see it here just stroll on down you'll see.

"Have you ever observed a humming-bird moving about in an aerial dance among the flowers - a living prismatic gem.... it is a creature of such fairy-like loveliness as to mock all description."  ~W.H. Hudson

Be well ~ Carole

  1. They are all great! I don't know how to mask:( I really need to learn. I have some ranger clear resist and thought I could figure some thing out. It still sits behind my distress inks, lol. Any suggestions?

  5. Good grief...you ave so many projects on this one post I don't know which one to comment on since they are ALL WOW. The birdhouse is darling and so many beautiful extras added. The masking is truly beautiful....hummm....I would love to find that in my $2 bin at my store. PS I love dark chocolate now that I'm older...go figure....but I've never taken to raspberry. They are beautiful looking but I can't get past the flavor. I guess that could be a good thing...they are expensive..haha
