OLW99 That's One Layer Wednesday 99

I've found another (new for me) challenge hosted by Susan. Click the link and come play along. She has the rules posted. OLW99 Pure Inspiration   Her trendy hexagon card (inspired by a rug) is so crisp and colorful, and  I learned a few tips just from her description.

I found this challenge link on Darnell's blog and went over to investigate. The entries are  all awe inspiring so I decided to play along. I was especially intrigued because we got to select our inspiration from a Pinterest board.

I LOVE Pinterest- I have to monitor my time so I don't loose hours. I have several boards and most are paper crafts and cards. If you click on the follow me on the red Pinterest button you'll see what I'm talking about.

Now back to Susan's Pure Inspiration Pinterest board, keeping in mind my limited stamps and looking at her eye candy I was drawn to this butterfly collection. Okay good that link works, so you can see the creative process.

Using black embossing powder and Versa Mark I inked, stamped and heat embossed each butterfly one by one. Taking my time and wiping the paper with the static pad to ensure no excess smears. I had a problem with the clear acrylic stamps and the Versa Mark - the stamps stuck to the pad - coming off the block. As you can see the top right butterfly is overlapping the largest BF. That was not the plan - it fell there - so I continued working with it. I had too much time invested all ready. Other then that I'm delighted with this one layer card.

It was so fun to color. I found alcohol markers smeared with the black, so I used Sharpies and Marvy Markers. It was like coloring stained glass, and I love the way the colors pop against the white. This is a card I will do again and perfect the size and placement of the butterflies.

Thanks Susan for the inspiration to create a one layer card.

I'll be happy to return the favor of a comment:) Be well ~ Carole
