Fashion Show Success

This post is all about the Woman's Club of Royersford Fashion Show and Luncheon.

We chose this elegant B & B to host our fashion show.  Shearer Elegance B & B  is a beautiful 22 room Victorian Mansion built in 1897. If you click the link you'll see a few interior pictures.

We had 64 ladies that participated in this fund raising event to benefit the many charities our women's club sponsors. We had 20 businesses that donated products and services that were offered for raffle prizes.  Door prizes included two floral arrangements provided by Beth Ann's Flowers, and two fascinator's hand made by our member Katherine Nelson Pitchford.

Pictured here is Katherine and her twin daughters, Brittany and Brianna , then  Mary Ann O'Brien wearing some of Kathy's fascinating creations.

A very talented local artist Dorothy Weikel donated a beautiful framed print of a water color painting she did, featuring the main street of Royersford on a snowy day.

The final  silent auction bid for this print was $150.00. Cookie Shearer the owner operator of the B & B was so excited to own this print and to contribute to our club. Cookie is a slim, talented, charming and witty red head. She prepared all the tables and food, then greeted and welcomed our guests to her establishment.

Tables set and decorated using all four rooms on the main floor. This was a charming corner table setting for 5. The place cards have not been placed but the lavender colored purse favors, filled with chocolate kisses are. The floral table arrangements will go to the lady that finds a  key - placed in one of the favors at each table.

Pictured here: my daughter Corina and DIL Sandy (in the blue). The luncheon was delicious with choices including a tuna, chicken and vegetarian  salad plates, or Quiche Lorraine. All the plates were embellished with large sweet  strawberries, honey melon, cantaloup and a cluster of grapes. A perfect summer afternoon lunch complete with a selection of desserts, enjoyed by all.

The fashions were provided by the Dress Barn and modeled by 3 lovely members of our club. I'm sorry I didn't take more photos to have available for this post, but someone else was assigned that duty. The fashions were amazing. I have not shopped at the Dress Barn but with the 15% discount offered to all in attendance I already know what I will purchase.

Our Woman's Club of Royersford was established in 1914...so next year is our 100 year anniversary. The committee of 5 - Lorraine Pickell , Mary Ellen Miscavage, Coleen Pontin, Mary Ann O'Brien and myself Carole Sweeney - along with the support of our board of directors look forward to planning a Centennial Celebration at the Spring Ford Country Club in May or June of 2014.

We exceeded our goal to raise $1,000.00 and we've acquired useful experience in fund raising and party planning. We've built lasting friendships and had a lot of fun along with the frustrations. Hopefully this experience will generate a renewed commitment and larger goal for a successful Centennial celebration.

BTW I won the best raffle prize...a huge basket of wine and spirits donated by Mary Ellen Miscavages family. The committee of 5 will be celebrating our success at Lorraine's on Tuesday evening...guess what I'll be bringing? Rewards Yea!

I did hear lots of compliments on the favors, place cards and floral arrangements we made.
I'll get back to card making and challenges soon so do plan on a return visit.

I noticed I have a new follower welcome #91. I like Loll's idea of making card candy for a give a way, so I'll be doing some die cuts and flowers to package for a card candy give away ...when I hit 100 followers. Inspiration is every where.

Thanks for your comments and interest. Be well ~ Carole

  1. Carole, you and the committee really did a fantastic job. Every detail was perfect and my daughters and I loved the prizes, flowers, favors and place cards. It was so nice to see my fascinators worn by the members, and modeling the lovely fashions was great fun. Maybe your craftiness is rubbing off on me. Thank you for including our picture on your blog. Looking forward to the anniversary celebration next year!

  3. How beautiful! I am happy to enjoy these pictures. What about the usage of special simple helpers like https://planner5d.com/use/home-design-software/ to add anything interesting and marvelous to this interior? Will it be useful for you as for me is?
